Vue Plymouth is a 15 screen cinema situated within the Barbican Leisure complex. The large cinema can seat up to 3, 315 guests and all screens benefit from the latest audio and visual technolgy. The company has the most modern state-of-the-art multiplex cinema circuit in the UK with a market leading mix of 95% of its seats in tiered seating which importantly provides unobstructed viewing and enables larger wall to wall, floor to ceiling screens to be fitted. Vue has also set new standards of comfort with the introduction of VIP seats which are in the best locations in every screen. All VIP seats can be pre-booked. As of May 2011, of its 657 screens, 176 are digital with 144 able to show 3D films.
Vue Cheshire Oaks and Vue West End were the first cinemas in Europe to show a 3D movie (Chicken Little) in February 2006. In September 2008, the company showed Keane live in 3D which was the first 3D live music event shown in cinema. In February 2011 Vue and Sony Europe signed a landmark agreement to roll out Sony’s incredible 4K digital projectors across the circuit which will give customers truly breathtaking images on screen.
The digitalization process is due to be completed in 2012, and heralds a new era for cinema, offering greater choice not only of films but also expanding the range of live and recorded 3D and 2D content covering sports, music, opera, ballet, theatre, comedy, gaming and other major special events.
